This is a museum of Saitama Prefecture focusing mainly on natural science. Including the time of the facility before it, this facility has been the center of natural science research in the Chichibu region with a long history spanning roughly 100 years.
There is also an extensive exhibition of Chichibu Geopark with a rich collection of fossil and rock specimens. Particularly eye-catching and gripping are skeletal preparations of Paleoparadoxia, a marine mammal of which many fossils have been excavated in the Chichibu area.
In addition, the museum has a diorama that expresses the changes in the four seasons in the forests of Saitama, an exhibition related to Chichibu Mine, and attractive special exhibitions held regularly.
